Times 1.0.5: Now available!

Times 1.0.5 is now available for everyone to download. This is a large maintenance release that squishes out lots of issues from previous builds. We've been testing it for a few weeks, and it looks like it's now sailing smoothly. Aside from fixes, here are some notable new additions:

Feed Authentication Support

Previous versions of Times would accept authenticated feeds, but the process wasn't clear or as smooth as we wanted it to be. When you add a protected feed in Times 1.0.5, you'll get a familiar dialog that will let you type in your user name and password and save it to Keychain.

Preview Feed Titles

When adding a new feed in Times 1.0.5, you'll get to see the feed title before you click Add to make sure its OK. Once the URL has been validated, wait a few seconds and watch the feed title fade in. Slick!

Custom Sound Support

Times now recognizes custom sounds added to ~/Library/Sounds/. Place a new sound file in here and you'll be able to select it in the Times Preferences as your new article notification sound.

Version 1.1 is still in development. There are some exciting new features coming in 1.1, as well as some significant under the hood changes. No date yet, but you'll see it this summer for sure.

Thanks for the great software! I think it would be awesome if there's a feature in Times that allows it to print off the articles so readers can read it on the go. An example of this would be like www.feedjournal.com

even tho it does not crash anymore it has cleared all pages 3 times for me :S latest is right now ... and its really anoying to have to put all you feeds on each page again.

and its even harder when you can't see if a feed is used on another page...

We're working on some additional things right now but 1.1 will come soon enough.

kostas- due to the nature of the page curl animation, it will most likely never run smoothly on a MacBook or other Mac with integrated graphics. We included the 'slide' option instead to accommodate computers with integrated graphics.

When is 1.1, my app keeps crashing everyday, or causes my system to halt for a few minutes while it waits to crash. I have to clear my times list to get the app to run, and add my pages again. What ever happen to the updates?

love this software!! I'm about to ditch NewsFire for it altogether..

[very important question though]

any chance you will add a plugin or a option to be able to use blogging integration with wordpress, tumblr, blogger, etc in the future? So if I come across a story I like I can easily re-post it up on my blog? This seems like a preference many rss readers should have but don't, well except for Vienna with its plugin.

Do let me know if I can help in anyway. I like where your going with this..

Any word on when we'll receive any word on Time's progress?

I 'want' to buy times, but it was too buggy for me to warrant spending any money on. I'm hoping that 1.1 fixes the crashy issues, and therefore justifies a few dollars spent.

Wow... much time has passed, guys. What about 1.1? Did you loose focus or are you still on the road?

A quick statement would be nice, because I paid, and I loveit, when software is still developed after I bought.

So how are things running?
